Stock tokens
Scaled UI Amount
Stock tokens carry a Token-2022 multiplier that changes how balances are displayed. All math on owned happens on raw units.
What the extension does
Tokenized stocks on Solana use the Token-2022 Scaled UI Amount extension. The issuer sets a multiplier on the mint; wallets and explorers multiply the raw on-chain balance by it before showing you a number. The multiplier changes with corporate actions: a 10-for-1 split multiplies it by ten, a reverse split divides it, and some issuers raise it slightly over time to reflect reinvested dividends.
displayed shares = raw units × multiplier ÷ 10^decimals
Examples read on-chain on 1 October 2026: NVDAx 1.000918 (scheduled to become 1.001701), TQQQx 2.009 (after a split), AZNx 0.511 (after a reverse split), MU 1.000107.
How owned handles it
- Pools and fees use raw units. Meteora's programs and the own program never look at the multiplier. A fee of 1% of raw units is 1% of shares; nothing changes.
- Display applies the live multiplier. The app reads the multiplier from the mint, including a scheduled future multiplier and its effective time, and converts raw amounts to shares everywhere a number is shown.
- Graduation thresholds are set in raw units using the multiplier in force when the config is created. A split changes the multiplier and the per-share price inversely, so the USD meaning of an existing threshold is unchanged.
- Prices in USD use the per-share price of the stock token on Jupiter, which is quoted per displayed share.
What you may notice
- After a split, your share balance in the wallet jumps (more shares) while its value does not. Coin prices quoted in shares per coin change by the same factor.
- Explorers that ignore the extension show raw numbers that look smaller than your wallet's. The Info tab on each token page shows both.
Decimals
xStocks mints use 8 decimals; Backpack Securities mints use 6. owned reads decimals from the mint rather than assuming them, and the API reports both the decimals and the current multiplier for every stock.
